How to create an AI agent in practice
The path is always the same: delimit the task, map the tools that the agent can call (separate reading and writing), define the memory strategy (round context, persisted session and knowledge retrieved on demand), impose a ceiling on iterations and timeout, and assemble an evaluation set with real cases before the first deployment. Prompt is the last step, not the first.
Guardrails, evaluation and cost per execution
Authorization lives in the tool's handler, never in the arguments that the model sends: tenant and user come from the server's execution context. On the cost side, spending grows non-linearly because each iteration reloads the context — that's why we use prompt caching, complexity routing and spending caps per session. The metric we track is cost per task solved, comparable to the cost of the manual process.
